SMA America’s Solar Academy is a state-of-the-art educational facility designed to support current and prospective solar industry professionals. Located at SMA America’s corporate headquarters in Rocklin, California, the Solar Academy is outfitted with advanced teaching tools and functioning inverters to provide comprehensive technical training on all SMA products.

The Solar Academy training labs provide attendees real-world experience with SMA Sunny Central inverters that can be powered on both the DC and AC side. This allows for controlled troubleshooting exercises to reinforce the technical knowledge presented in the four day Preventative and Corrective Maintenance classes.

The string inverter lab hosts functioning equipment from the Residential and Commercial business units, along with the PEAK3 utility-scale string inverter, and the Data Manager M communications hardware used with these inverters.

The PV array on the facility roof has been expanded to provide multiple configurations to connect to the various lab string inverters, allowing for real world commissioning of these devices.
